The Interpreter Training Program
The purpose of this Program is to provide bilingual trainees with the skills and knowledge necessary for the delivery of effective interpreter services.
The training focuses on :
- educational terminology
- code of Ethics
- interpretation (whispering, simultaneous, consecutive, etc)
- sight translation
- telephone protocol, (phone relay, phone message)
- introduction
- note-taking
- building vocabulary
- paraphrasing
- exploring the impact of culture, attitudes and values on the interpretation process
The Cultural Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool - a provincially recognized testing system that allows potential interpreters to acquire professional accreditation and certification.
The Interpreter Language and Skills Assessment Tool - designed to test an individual's skills in English and another language, including the ability to perform consecutive interpretation and sight translation competently, at an introductory level.
Classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays evening 5:30pm - 9:00pm AND Saturdays 9:00am to 5:00pm Location: Mississauga |
