National Enhanced Language Training Placement Assessment
( ELTPA )

Following the successful development of the ELTPA tool and implementation across Canada, the National ELTPA Support Services project 2009-2011 was designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Train new ELTPA assessors in the administration of the Enhanced Language Training Placement Assessment (ELTPA). 
  • Provide recalibration of current assessors to maintain consistent scoring practices and Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) results determination
  • Create and maintain a national discussion forum to address regional needs, issues, challenges and solutions for use of ELTPA for placement of learners in ELT and related programs.
  • Conduct an inter-rater reliability study on inter-scorer accuracy in administration and scoring of ELTPA to ensure consistency of scoring
  • Conduct consultations to examine when it is best to use the ELTPA in comparison to other assessments
