Language Assessment Support Services: Overview

Language Assessment Support Services (LASS) provides support to all Language Assessment Centres across Ontario by coordinating and providing functional guidance and training, program delivery materials and tools, and sharing information and best practices.  Our ultimate objective is to ensure that newcomer clients receive accurate language assessments and referrals in accordance with the Canadian Language Benchmarks.

The Centre for Education & Training has provided assessor training to new employees of Language Assessment Centres since the administration of A-LINC in 1992, adding the administration of CLBA and CLBLA in 1996, and finally the pilot training and full delivery of the ELTPA in 2005.
