All of the teachers employed by the LEAD programs are TESL-certified. All teachers have had years of classroom experience over and above their experience in this very specialized method of teaching. They possess a range of skills that encompass the following abilities:

• thorough knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks, LINC curriculum and LINC-mandated procedures excellence in teaching English as a Second Language
• superior assessment and monitoring skills to follow a large population on independent learning paths
• ability to negotiate a meaningful professional relationship at a distance
• understanding of proper professional boundaries in the context of an open teaching-learning environment
• comprehensive awareness of community providers and referral strategies for sensitive situations
• highly developed organizational and self-management skills
• competence with a wide range of learning technologies, including Internet and email, scanning, webcams, faxing, recording, etc, to be able to respond to particular needs
• willingness to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in implementing new media and methodologies
