TCET staff present donation to the Children's Aid Futures Fund
Centre for Education & Training presented a total of $760.00 that was fundraised by staff to the Peel Children's Aid Society
By participating in weekly dress-down Fridays during the summer of 2011, staff at Centre for Education & Training raised money that will go towards the Peel Children's Aid Futures Fund. These are programs that provide opportunities for future success to youth who have grown up in care and are typically more likely to face difficulty integrating into the community as adults.
- Bursary Program – Scholarships to aid youth in attaining their dreams through post-secondary education
- Skills for Success Program – Courses and personal mentoring in a variety of subjects such as job interview skills, financial literacy, career and education options, etc., to aid youth in developing the skills needed to move successfully into adulthood.
On Friday October 14th the cheque was presented to Catherine Hinton, Executive Director of the Peel Children's Aid Society.

TCET's Newcomer Information Centre (NIC) at Sussex location proudly announce our partnership with Peel Public Health, to provide Healthy Smiles Program services. A Registered Dental Hygienist and Dental Educator are available on site to provide the services. One of our meeting room has been converted into a dental office equipped with portable unit of all the dental equipments, in order to deliver the dental services effectively. The clinic runs from Aug 31st to Sept 21st, 2011, Monday to Friday in Mississauga location.
Accessing dental care for children can be a challenge for some Ontario families, particularly for those families without dental benefit coverage. The new Healthy Smiles Ontario program will ensure that youth can have regular visits with a dentist or dental hygienist. This program is anticipated to benefit about 130,000 youth throughout the province.
Administered by public health units, this program provides preventive dental care at no cost to youth who:
- are 17 years and under
- are members of a household with an Adjusted Family Net Income of $20,000 per year or less
- don't have access to any form of dental coverage.
Youth and their families will leave the room with free dental kits and of course a big smile on their faces. We here at TCET are committed to provide more future opportunities like this to bring a light of hope, happiness and smile in people's life.

TCET is very valued the environmental protection concept and in order to allow the public and the community to acknowledge this message, including their current and future generations, the goal of the bus tour is to engage adults and families in learning about local environmental issues and helping to build healthy communities. Nature-based workshops, presentations, and outdoor events are delivered by Credit Valley Conservation staff. Adults, families, schools, youth, and whole communities can get engaged in working towards an environmentally healthy Credit River Watershed for present and future generations.
