Can I room with a friend?
Yes, you can. You, and the person you would like to room with, must indicate your preference on your application. Both parties must write each other's name or your request will not be processed.
I don't know anyone going, am I going to be on the plane all by myself?
No, all students and staff fly to Corner Brook, Newfoundland on the same flight departing from Toronto Pearson Airport.
How will I be able to contact home?
There are a couple ways you can call home. If you have a cell phone and would like to bring with you, that is fine. Please note that there are some areas the group travels to that receives limited cell phone service. The Administrators have a cell phone that can be used to make a quick call home. As well, there is internet (somewhat limited) and can email your family and friends at home.
How will parents contact their child while away?
The On-Site Administration staff will have a cell phone with them for the entire trip and you will be provided with this phone # just prior to the start date of the program. We also provide contact #'s for both locations the group stay and messages can be passed on to your child. In addition, the Admin staff update their twitter (@psanewfoundland) on a daily basis which is great to see what the group is doing while away.
Will I get any free time?
Yes, free time is scheduled into the program itinerary and you will have allotted time to take some time to yourself or hang out with friends between activities and in the evening.
I’ve never been out east. What do I bring?
A suggested packing list will be included in the Final Program Package that will be sent to you in June.
